Cork simply weren’t disciplined enough

LEE TREVINO, the great Mexican-American golfer, used to say that two things never lasted long – dogs that chased cars and making putts to save par. To that list we can add another item – stirring second-half comebacks.

Cork simply weren’t disciplined enough

Cork made a game of it in the second-half yesterday, but were never in control of the comeback, as they had been in the games against Galway and Clare — and couldn’t get the goal they desperately needed.

When a team is fighting back they do so with resolute defence and discipline. A big turning point came yesterday in the 13th minute of the second-half, when Eddie Brennan pounced on a ball and was fouled. The resultant free by Henry Shefflin stopped the Cork momentum dead.
