RTÉ confirms hurling qualifiers will be televised live on Saturday

There was confusion yesterday as RTÉ television ads stated that live GAA coverage would begin at 6.40pm, which would mean the first game of the double-header, between Waterford and Offaly at 5pm, would not be transmitted.

However, an RTE spokesperson said yesterday that the station’s live coverage would begin at 4.40pm this Saturday. “Those promotions are usually filmed a week or so ahead of their broadcast date,” said the spokesman. At that point in time it probably wasn’t clear that there might be a double-header in Thurles. But the earlier game will be broadcast live.”
