Loughnane learns little from facile Galway win

GER LOUGHNANE has always been good for a quote but even he knew he was heading into difficulty when remarking that Fergal Moore’s hamstring injury was his ‘Achilles heel’.

But we knew what he meant. The physio from Turloughmore, the latest to be handed the troublesome No 3 Galway jersey, limped off with a hamstring injury which has dogged him and now makes him extremely doubtful for the Tribesmen’s next steps on the road to September.

Mind you, it remains to be seen if Moore, who has rarely if ever played at full-back for club or county, is the answer to the edge of the square problems for Galway after being taken for a couple of points by the impressive John Brophy.
