Blues star Moran set to appeal ban

DUBLIN defender Collie Moran is likely to head to the Central Appeals Committee in an effort to have a four-week ban overturned before the Leinster final against Wexford on July 20.

Blues star Moran set to appeal ban

The Central Hearings Committee sanctioned the one-month ban proposed by the Central Competitions Control Committee (CCCC) on Moran as a result of an incident in last Sunday’s Leinster semi final with Westmeath.

The Metropolitans defender was booked for a tackle on Westmeath’s Dermot Bannon during the victory at Croke Park.

The CCCC subsequently asked referee Padraig Hughes to review the incident and, on second viewing, felt the clash warranted a red card — which incurred a four-week suspension.

The suspension applies from the date of the game, June 29. Bannon has said he does not want to see Moran miss the Leinster final against Wexford as a result of the tackle, but, as it stands, the Ballyboden St Enda’s clubman will be unavailable for the decider.

Moran has the option of appealing to the Central Appeals Committee, and Dublin are already committed to taking the case to the Disputes Resolution Authority, if necessary.
