Ban could scupper Galvin-Russell phone advert

IF IT goes to air, it may turn out to be the marketing coup of the GAA season, but Paul Galvin will hardly appreciate the irony.

The Kerry skipper was in Dublin last week as part of a Vodafone promotional ad for the company’s sponsorship of the football championship — and filming with him was referee, Paddy Russell!

The Tipperary official is central to the storm that has engulfed the Kingdom skipper, but the pair got on very well last week. Also in the ad was Mayo’s Ronan McGarrity, but it’s unclear if Vodafone will now proceed with the ad, given Galvin is unlikely to play further part in the 2008 Championship.
