Sarsfields 2-9 Ballinhassig 2-8

By Jim O’Sullivan

SARS’ purple patch in the opening quarter was the basis for their win, but Ballinhassig would have won Saturday’s SHC game in Páirc U Chaoimh on Saturday evening, if goalkeeper Martin Coleman’s injury time effort hadn’t been deflected over the bar.

Fintan O’Leary’s goals in the 39th and 51st minutes revitalised Ballinhassig, having been 2-7 to 0-3 down at the break.

Sarsfields Scorers: Sarsfields: P. Ryan 0-5 frees; G. McCarthy and K. Murphy 1-0 each; J. Murphy 0-2; C. McCarthy and T. Óg Murphy 0-1 each.

Ballinhassig scorers: F. O’Leary 2-3; M. Coleman 0-3 frees; D. O’Sullivan and P. Coomey 0-1 each.
