CORK defender Cian O’Connor is likely to miss the Rebels’ Munster senior hurling championship opener against Tipperary on June 8, after suffering a knee injury on Friday evening.

Injured O’Connor to miss Tipp opener

O’Connor, who featured for Cork in last year’s Munster and All-Ireland series, sustained a suspected torn medial knee ligament in Erin’s Own’s intermediate football championship draw with Cill na Martra and he is now likely to be out of action for six to eight weeks.

O’Connor and his Cork teammates fly out to La Manga in Spain today for warm- weather training ahead of the championship.
