Cork change winning formula

CORK football manager Conor Counihan has made two changes from the side that defeated Roscommon last time out for Saturday night’s Allianz NFL clash with Westmeath in Páirc Uí Rinn (7pm throw-in).

Owen Sexton who played brilliantly against Roscommon when introduced for the injured Anthony Lynch, keeps his place at left half back.

The second change sees Kevin McMahon come in for Conor McCarthy at left half forward. Pearse O’Neill and Michael Cussen, both of whom are carrying injuries, have been named at centre and full forward respectively.

Westmeath, who are due to announce their team tonight, will be without star forward Dessie Dolan. He tore a hamstring in the opening game of the competition against Armagh and is still out of action.

Tyrone manager Mickey Harte has reshuffled his defence for Saturday’s must-win clash with Laois at Omagh.

Justin McMahon comes in at full back, allowing Conor Gormley to move out to his natural central defensive slot.

And Dermot Carlin moves from centre back to left corner back, with Martin Swift losing out.

The only other change sees John Devine take over from Johnny Curran in goal. The defence and attack are unchanged from the side that lost narrowly at Galway last time out.

Roscommon have made one change in personnel and one positional switch from the side that lost to Cork for Sunday’s League clash with Armagh at Crossmaglen.

David Keenan comes into the side at left half back with Seanie McDermott moving to left corner back to the exclusion of Adrian Murtagh.

Unbeaten Monaghan have announced an unchanged side for their top-of-the-table showdown with Dublin at Parnell Park on Saturday.

As also expected there is no change in the Wexford team for Sunday’s vital NFL clash with Limerick at the Gaelic Grounds, with the selectors keeping faith with the side which defeated Down last time out.

Hurling manager John Myler has made a number of positional and personnel changes for the visit of Dublin to Walsh Park in a must-win game for both counties.

Colm Farrell gets his first start at midfield with Michael Jacob at left half forward. Dennis Morton takes over from Willie Doran at centre back, as he moves to right half forward. Stephen Nolan is at full forward.

Kerry have included seniors Killian Young, David Moran, Kieran O’Leary and Tommy Walsh in their team for the visit of Limerick to Austin Stack Park for Saturday’s Munster U21 football championship first round (2.30pm throw-in).

If Kerry win, they will have home advantage against champions Cork. That game is fixed for March 22.
