Cody refutes claims that Cats are dirty

MANAGER Brian Cody (pictured) last night finally hit back at claims by Ger Loughnane that Kilkenny teams were dirty.

Cody pointed out that, in his previous role as RTÉ analyst, Loughnane ‘never said anything of the same tenor he has been saying for the past few weeks’ about Kilkenny.

“He praised them very often,” he added. “He took up the Galway job and suddenly he started calling us a dirty team. I didn’t hear it, but I’m told he was on radio and he re-emphasised that — so far as to say ‘something is going to have to be done about it,’ that ‘it’s going to have to be looked into.’

“I think that’s terribly wrong, because our team is respected far and wide. I think every opponent who plays against our team respects us for what we are.”
