Kilbrittain fancied to reach semi-finals

TONIGHT: IHC: Kilbrittain v Kilworth: Pairc Uí Rinn, 7.30pm

THE North Cork club will be without Will Twomey for tonight’s quarter-final and he will be a huge loss. A broken bone in his foot rules the former St. Colman’s Colleges star out of action.

Kilbrittain have a clean bill of health which means county senior footballer Eoin Sexton plays.

With a win over Kilworth already under their belt and Twomey missing, the West Cork side will fancy their chances of advancing.

However, a look at Kilworth’s two previous round wins where they scored 7-34, suggests they won’t have it all their own way.

Dan O’Connell continues to serve Kilbrittain well and with exciting youngsters like county minor Sexton, Ross Cashman, John Murphy, Tomas Harrington around him, the Black and Amber have every reason to feel confident.

With such a scoring machine up front, Kilworth will also fancy their chances. They include a number of experienced former county players in Damien McNamara, Aidan Kenny, Paudie Lynch and current U-21 player Adrian Mannix. But Twomey’s loss may prove that bit costly.

Verdict: A Kilbrittain win.

IFC: Ballinora v Killavullen: Donoughmore, 7pm (et)

This will be Ballinora’s fifth game in the championship which makes them battle hardened if nothing else.

With a full squad the Mid-Cork side, backed by Conor Brosnan, Colin O’Shea, Eoin Lougheed, Michael Hodge and Gary O’Halloran, will be difficult to beat. Killavullen have played a game less, and have seen off the challenges of Newmarket and Newcestown.

The victories over two former seniors clubs St Michael’s and Clyda should give Ballinora the edge.

Verdict: a Ballinora win.
