Dolan issues rallying call

CORK GAA chairman Mick Dolan has called on supporters to rally in behind the county’s hurlers for Sunday’s Munster semi-final against Waterford.
Dolan issues rallying call

Dolan said: “In the circumstances in which we find ourselves in, it’s important that all our clubs and supporters travel to Semple Stadium in large numbers to cheer the team on.

“My reasons for calling on our followers to travel are twofold. We have three new players making their championship debut and it’s going to be a huge occasion for them.

“Secondly, because we are without three very experienced players, it’s vital the team chosen is aware that it has the full support of our fans and I would appeal to them to turn out in force.

“Already I’m hearing there is a clamour for tickets out in Kanturk since word broke that one of their players Anthony Nash has been given the goal keeping position. Down my own area (North Cork) there is also a big demand.

“From talking with our Waterford counterparts, the expected attendance for Sunday’s game should be in the region of 40,000 which would be a great crowd for a semi-final.”

He said the Board would not be putting tickets on sale again in the run up to the game. “Tickets will go on sale from kiosks around the stadium on Sunday and there should be enough for everybody.”
