Still a lot to play for in Harty Cup groups

WITH one round of games to play in Section A, De La Salle, Waterford, top the group with maximum points from three games and need just one more from their last match against Cashel to be certain of a place in the quarter-final as group winners.

The runner-up spot will be Ard Scoil Ris’s if they defeat Glanmire in their final game. That would mean St. Colman’s won’t make the knock out stages for the first time.

Victories for Cashel and Glanmire would throw the whole issue back into the melting pot.

In Section B, St. Flannan’s are winners with Carrigaline in second place.

In Section C, Our Lady’s are through, with Waterford Colleges needing to beat Limerick Colleges by more than five points to secure second place. That would mean title holders Midleton CBS would go out.

Thurles CBS and Rathluirc CBS finished first and second in Section D.

The draws for the quarter-finals will be made after Christmas and will see the top teams play the runners up in each section.
