Brady aims for US Open win

WORLD handball champion Paul Brady will aim for another big payday on America’s West Coast. He begins his bid for success at the $80,000 (€63,000) US Open of Handball 17th Naty Alvarado Classic.

Brady, from Mullahoran, Co Cavan, scooped $50,000 (€40,000) in Seattle two years ago winning the Ultimate Handball Showdown.

This weekend he, along with three other Irish pros, is in California for the US Open of Handball.

A field of 32 handballers, also including All-Ireland champion Tony Healy from Cork, Ricky McCann from Belfast and Mayo’s Dessie Keegan, is chasing a $20,000 (€15,800) first prize on Sunday at the Los Caballeros Sports Village in Fountain Valley, near Los Angeles.
