UCD throw Crokes a lifeline

KILMACUD CROKES may yet be given the opportunity to defend their Dublin football title after their semi-final opponents UCD yesterday offered to rearrange the fixture.
UCD throw Crokes a lifeline

Crokes had been sensationally thrown out of the competition after a meeting of the Dublin GAC on Tuesday night but their game with UCD has been fixed provisionally for tomorrow week at Parnell Park.

The county GAC have yet to agree but, with the alternative likely to be a Kilmacud appeal to the Leinster Council and perhaps the DRA, the chances of UCD’s olive branch being accepted seems strong.

The alternative would make it extremely difficult for Dublin to finish their championship in time to field a team in the Leinster Championship. The eventual champions are due to meet either Wolfe Tones of Meath or Louth’s St Joseph’s on November 5.

Meanwhile, the delayed semi-final between Na Fianna and St Vincent’s will go ahead tonight at Parnell Park after the decision to throw out the appeal by St Oliver Plunkett’s/Eoghan Ruadh over the eligibility of Na Fianna’s Gary Mullins in the clubs’ quarter-final.
