EXPECTATIONS of a classic in Sunday’s All-Ireland hurling final had been unrealistic, suggested Kilkenny Chairman Ned Quinn yesterday.

"From my way of looking at it, it was '99 all over again in reverse," Quinn said. "While Kilkenny and Cork have tremendous respect for each other, in a way they have no respect for each other. They were prepared to go at it hammer and thongs.

"It wasn't a classic and I'm sure Cork feel they could have won it which they could have. But at the end of the day, all credit to our lads, they dug a victory when 10 minutes to go it looked as if it was going away from them."
