O'Connor appointed to new camogie post
This is a newly created position to develop the commercial potential of the game and is the first of its kind within women's sports.
O'Connor, who previously worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Ireland and the US, is an honours graduate from the University of Scranton (BS in Accounting) and the Smurfit School of Business (Masters in Accounting).
Announcing the appointment yesterday in Croke Park, Camogie president Miriam O'Callaghan said: "Sinéad comes with a proven track record. She brings a professional business acumen and a great energy to make a success of this new position, which was created to focus on the potential commercial opportunities to further enhance the exciting game of camogie."
Looking forward to her new role, 27-year-old O'Connor, originally from Galway and a member
of the Portobello club in Dublin said: "I welcome the challenge to develop and grow the sponsorship and financial role within the association especially as we face into the centenary year in 2004.
"I think camogie offers a unique sponsorship opportunity to companies given that is the largest women's sporting organisation in the country and also with its strong national identity.
"The association is very progressive in its approach to many aspects of the game and what we need to do is to align the image of the sport with this."
