Canavan portrait sells for £27,000

A PORTRAIT of former Tyrone talisman Peter Canavan has been sold for a whopping £27,000.

The portrait was the subject of much bidding in an auction organised by Club Tyrone and attracted 700 people to the Armagh City Hotel.

Former Tyrone footballer Eddie Duffy from Omagh was eventually successful with his bid for the painting which was the work of Omagh native Niall Laird.

Other items which went under the hammer helped boost the figure raised to £36,500.
