GAA: Waterford again omit Kelly for crunch clash with Galway
Official sources close to the camp say Kelly is recovering from a back injury, but there are now rumours the Mount Sion clubman has in fact been left out for disciplinary reasons.
The Waterford hurling selectors have named an unchanged side from that which started against Dublin. Ken McGrath is still absent because of his groin injury, while Seamus Prendergast’s hamstring problem still hasn’t cleared up.
But, the substitutes panel makes for encouraging reading.
James Murray and Eoin McGrath, who both starred in the Munster final win over Tipperary in 2002, have rejoined the panel.
Buffers Alley’s Willie Doran will make his first full senior début for Wexford for Sunday’s NHL Division 1B clash against Limerick at Páirc na nGael.
Willie, son of former star, Colm, is placed at centre-back while David “Doc” O’Connor switches to right full-back in place of Pierce Donoghue. Michael Jordan returns to the attack after injury, while Rory Stafford is included in midfield, with both Barry Lambert and Robbie Codd dropping to the substitutes.
Meanwhile, Westmeath manager, Páidí Ó Sé, has held back from wielding the axe for his side’s Allianz NFL game against Tyrone in Omagh.
Into he team comes Russell Casey at centre-back in place of the injured Aidan Canning.
Tyrone will rest Sean Cavanagh and John Devine.
Pascal McConnell takes over from Devine in goal, while Gerard Cavlan moves to midfield.
Sligo hope to be able to field a near full strength side for Sunday’s Allianz NFL Division 1 B game against table toppers Limerick at Markievicz Park.
The NFL game between Dublin and Cork at Parnell Park on Sunday will be played at the earlier time of 3pm.
