Decision on Cork selectors delayed until after final

THERE will be no decision on the Cork senior hurling management until after Sunday's SHC final between Cloyne and Newtownshandrum.

Victory for Cloyne would necessitate a change on the selection committee.

Should Newtown win, it could mean that the All-Ireland-winning selection team would be returned en bloc, as the club are represented on the committee.

Coach John Allen wants minimum change for 2006 if he is to continue.

At last night's county board meeting, the executive was given permission to set up a sub-committee to look into the appointment of selectors and coaches for the other seven inter-county teams.

Cork operate a system whereby any committee which has collected All-Ireland honours is entitled to be offered the opportunity to remain in office.

Meanwhile, Anthony Daly has been re-appointed coach to the Clare senior hurling team for another year.

At last night's county board meeting, Daly, along with Fr Harry Bohan and Alan Cunningham, were given another term in office. All three have been involved with the team since 2004.

The Antrim County Board is to set up a sub-committee to interview candidates for the senior hurling and football managers' posts. Clubs have until Monday to forward names.

Michael Culbert from the St Galls club is the only name so far for the football job. The following are in the frame for the hurling manager's position, vacated by Dinny Cahill: Jim McKiernan (Sarsfields), Kevin McNaughton (Ruiri Og Cushendall), Paul McKillen (McQuillans Ballycastle), David Foley (Dublin), and Sean Farrell (Cork).
