Superb Piarsaigh overcome 'Haven
Garry Sheehan wiped out Castlehaven possession-wise with a spectacular display of high fielding, while Seán Óg Ó hAilpín used the ball superbly as he patrolled tirelessly up and down the pitch.
In fact, it was an Ó hAilpín run set up Sean McLoughlin for the only goal of the game in the seventh minute.
This score enabled the city side to lead 1-3 to 0-5 at half-time having played into the wind. Scorers: Na Piarsaigh: J. Gardiner (0-4, 0-3 frees), S. McLoughlin (1-0), S. Glasgow (0-2, 0-1 free), C. O'Mahony (0-2, 0-1 free), S. Óg O hAilpín (0-1), D. Gardiner (0-1).
Castlehaven: P. Hurley (0-5, 0-3 frees, 0-1 45), I. Cahalane (0-1), S. Hurley (0-1), C. Crowley (0-1), D. Burns (0-1).
DD Dorgan showed skill and composure to land an exquisite injury-time winner as Muskerry beat Seandún 2-12 to 2-11 in a pulsating SFC game at Páirc Uí Rinn last evening.
Seandún had a great opportunity to level matters with the last kick of the game when John Paul Murphy mishit a 40 metre free.
Murphy, who had been flawless from placed balls all evening, never got hold of his effort and it is Muskerry who now face Imokilly for a place in the third round of the championship.
Scorers: Muskerry: P. Dunlea 1-6 (0-3 frees), J. Russell 1-2, DD Dorgan 0-2, C. Sheehan, E. Murphy 0-1 each. Seandun: JP Murphy 0-5 (0-3 free, 1 45), J. Buckley 1-2 (0-2 frees), F. Murphy 1-2, P. Condon, G. Quinlan 0-1 each.
