Carlow gave us big test, says Roe
“There’s no question or doubt about it but we grew complacent after an electrifying start. We had Carlow on the rack but failed to turn the screws and that is a bit disconcerting from my point of view.
“We should have moved on after scoring three goals at the start but instead we played some very silly football and employed too many hand passes.
“We gifted Carlow a goal and a penalty from which they also scored and allowed them back in the game. I suppose we were on a hiding to nothing being such raging hot favourites but Carlow gave us a severe test and I am happy with the win.
“All that mattered in the end was to win. We gained our place in the semi-final and these are the two big pluses to be taken out of this game from our point of view,” said the triumphant Wexford boss.
