Cork Board Chairman, Jim Forbes, has ruled out suggestions that it will be a bit of ‘craic,’ commenting: “the Cork lads are up for it. It will be serious.”

Four of Cork’s All-Ireland winning hurling team - Sean Óg O hAilpin, Brian Corcoran, Tom Kenny and Diarmuid O’ Sullivan - have all represented the county at senior football championship level. A fifth, Timmy McCarthy, has limited National League experience.

Meantime, GAA president Sean Kelly believes that the Leesiders have the best supporters in the country. He made his comments at the county’s victory celebration function at the Moran Silversprings Hotel at the weekend.

Mr. Kelly had a special word of praise for Brian Corcoran, saying that the former dual star had retired ‘too early,’ but had thankfully changed his mind. In doing so successfully, he had added to his legendary status, he commented.
