Most will point to Brian Carroll's goal on 42 minutes as the definitive nail in the Laois coffin but, in truth, they looked dead on their feet from the off.

With 11 minutes on the clock, Laois trailed by just 0-3 to 0-2 but even then the writing was on the wall. All over the field, Offaly players were that crucial half yard ahead of their opponents.
