No extra security ordered for Ulster final
The GAA doesn’t anticipate that security will be tightened in the light of the bomb explosions in London yesterday. However, Information Officer Feargal McGill pointed out that security arrangements in Croke Park are put in place in consultation with An Garda Siochána.
“Obviously we would expect in the light of the tragic events in London that everyone involved on Sunday would be extra vigilant,” he said.
“There is absolutely no reason to believe that Croke Park or indeed any other part of Dublin is a potential target for this kind of attack.’’
Meanwhile, supporters travelling south for the game have been advised of possible traffic hold-ups en route. The Ulster Council yesterday advised patrons that major road works are taking place at the Ballymacscanlon roundabout at Dundalk. People travelling from north Armagh and Tyrone should use the N2 to Ardee and then either the N2 or the M1.
*The toll plaza on the M1 at Drogheda requires €1.60 to pass through.
*Car parking in Dublin is available at Clonliffe College, O’Connell School at North Richmond Road and St Vincent’s School at Finglas Road.
*Illegally parked vehicles will be clamped (€80) or towed away (€120). *Bus parking is limited at Mountjoy Sq, North and East and at Western Way.
