Waterford looked to be set for an emphatic victory and a place in the provincial semi-final when they led 2-1 to 0-6 at half-time and with the very strong wind favouring them in the second period.
Outplayed in the opening quarter by a Limerick side that eased into a four point lead despite kicking many bad wides, Waterford delivered what looked like irrevocable sucker punches with goals in the 25th and 26th minutes.
