THE disciplinary system in use in Australian Rules is one of a number of options being examined by the GAA in an effort to refine its own methods and ease the workload on the Games Administration Committee at national level.

Association president Seán Kelly has provided documentation on the AFL system for a legal sub-committee of the Central Council with a view to examining its possible application for Gaelic games. The AFL process is undertaken by a senior lawyer, who deals with all the legal issues and takes a decision in a matter of days.

Meantime, Mr Kelly is pursuing the possibility of dividing up the areas of responsibility of the GAC, separating their games role from the disciplinary aspect.
