Shefflin around the frontline

NOT so long ago, it seemed Henry Shefflin was being groomed to take over the centre-forward position on the Kilkenny team which had been filled with such distinction by John Power.

Now acknowledged as one of hurling's biggest names and a prolific scorer, Shefflin can be seen operating in a variety of areas in the attack. Symptomatic of the way the game has gone in terms of how players move around, shrewd judges believe he has most to offer in around the goalmouth.

Shefflin jokes that he is "getting closer to the line," as the Cats forward line is re-moulded by the management. But, it's a policy which has reaped a dividend.
