FORMER GALWAY All-Ireland-winning football star Jack Mahon passed away on Saturday night at Galway’s University College Hospital.

Jack, who was a native of Dunmore, had battled bravely against illness for some time.

His death, coming only weeks after that of another great from the 1956 team, Sean Purcell, was a shock to all who knew him.
