McMahon dismissal report studied
McMahon and board representatives hope to finalise their strategy of response this afternoon as they travel to Dublin tomorrow for a reconvened GAC meeting to discuss the matter.
Officials and the Allstar defender received a copy of referee Aodhan MacSuibhne's report shortly before tea time, and the matter was discussed at the county board's scheduled Games Administration Committee meeting in Ennis.
McMahon was red-carded by Dublin official MacSuibhne midway through the second half of the championship opener at Páirc Uí Chaoimh last Sunday following a clash with Tipperary centre-forward Conor Gleeson.
Banner officials were last night remaining tightlipped on the matter and how they will respond.
However, they admitted they were anxious to have the issue dealt with by the weekend, as McMahon's club, St Joseph's Doorabarefield, are in action in the county SHC against Tulla at Cusack Park tomorrow evening.
"Sean McMahon is naturally anxious that this matter is dealt with as quickly as possible," a spokesperson admitted last night.
Even if he were to receive a minimum one month suspension, McMahon will definitely be ruled out of the Guinness Munster SHC semi-final against Cork on June 8, but could be sidelined for 12 weeks if the Games Administration Committee rule that he struck Gleeson deliberately.
Last Sunday's dismissal, was the first in McMahon's club or inter county career.
