No tears as players and coach happy to get another chance
"This is what championship hurling is all about, and the way both teams performed showed the magnitude of the stakes that were involved. I suppose when a team surges into a three-point lead near the end, they would be expected to win. But it could have been worse, because we could so easily have been beaten,” said Cork coach Donal O’Grady after Rory McCarthy sensationally gave Wexford a second bite of the cherry.
Team captain Alan Browne added: “My feelings are mixed. The first is one of relief, while the second is one of disappointment. However, things could have been a lot worse from our perspective and I am extremely happy that we are still in the championship.”
