The All-Ireland champions lent the local side several players for the game, played with 15-a-side, and also supplied the match official, with county secretary Frank Murphy taking charge.

Donal Og Cusack, John Browne, Timmy McCarthy and Ben O'Connor were prominent for Cork, as was Carrigaline native Owen West at full-back. Auckland were well served by Paul Morrissey, Paul Tierney, John Gardiner, Brian Corcoran and Joe Deane. The players met GAA fans in the large attendance afterwards, posing for photographs and signing autographs.
