Corkery’s feet first for charity

COLIN CORKERY is planning to let his feet do the talking on Monday at Croke Park — and raise money for a worthy charity in the process.

The Nemo Rangers scoring machine and captain will be hoping to lead his team to their seventh All Ireland club football title against Connacht champions, Crossmolina.

Corkery will be wearing custom- made adidas boots, duplicates of the pair David Beckham wore for the first time in Manchester United’s win against Chelsea back on January 18.

And like Beckham’s, they will be personally inscribed, with C. Corkery clearly visible on the tongue, and to mark the occasion, a shamrock and the date 17:03:03 embroidered on the instep.

The boots will be sold after Monday’s game, with the proceeds going to the Caritas Centre in Cork, which provides training and development facilities for people with intellectual disabilities.

“We were overwhelmed by the response to the auction for the boots I wore last summer in the Championships,” said Corkery.

“With Nemo getting to the final, we thought it would be nice to have a bit of fun, and do something a little bit different with the boots, and hopefully raise some more money for charity.”
