Portlaoise players set to rejoin Laois squad

LAOIS captain-elect Colm Parkinson will depart for Australia this morning as planned, but the remaining seven Portlaoise county players have been invited to rejoin Mick O’Dwyer’s panel this Thursday.

As captain of county champions Portlaoise, the 26-year old was automatically entitled to skipper the county team, but the versatile forward will instead spend the next few months down under before making his way to the USA where he is expected to play some football over the summer.

O’Dwyer met some of Parkinson’s club colleagues last night and it is understood he asked them to return to training in two days’ time, one week after losing the All-Ireland club final to Ballina.
