Galway hoping Healy can shake off injury

GALWAY have left a vacancy at midfield for their Allianz NHL final clash with Waterford at the Limerick Gaelic Grounds on Sunday.

The regular in the position, Fergal Healy was injured during the Tribesmen’s semi-final victory over Limerick and his fitness is still giving cause for concern.

Healy received a stab in the kidney, according to PRO Phelim Murphy, and no decision on his availability will be taken until he undergoes a fitness test at training tomorrow night.

Otherwise the Galway selectors have stuck by the other 14-players who have brought them through to the pennant decider against a Justin McCarthy side seeking to end a 41-year hoodoo in this competition.

Meanwhile, Ger Cavlin and Owen Mulligan are likely to miss Tyrone’s opening defence of their Ulster and All-Ireland SFC crowns against Derry at Clones on Sunday.

Cavlin has a pulled hamstring, while Mulligan was involved in a car crash over the weekend.

Thankfully, however, tests and x-rays showed up no physical injuries. On a brighter note for Tyrone, Stephen O'Neill, is again available after serving a month’s suspension term. He will obviously fill in up front if either Cavlin or Mulligan are ruled out.
