Wexford qualifier deferred

WEXFORD’S football qualifier against Monaghan has been put back a week to accommodate dual player Redmond Barry who lines out for the county hurlers in this weekend’s Leinster final.

Wexford qualifier deferred

The news will be warmly welcomed in the South-East though not in Monaghan as it will seriously impinge on manager Seamus McEnaney’s holiday plans. “We have no objection to the game being changed to accommodate a player in Redmond Barry’s situation,” said McEnaney yesterday. “The only problem for me is the fact that I’m due to fly out to Spain with the wife and kids on Monday and I won’t be back until the Saturday.

“It’s unfortunate but that’s the joys of being an inter-county manager.”
