Barry fails in bid to get two-weeks suspension overturned

In a brief statement issued after Barry was granted a personal hearing by the Games Administration Committee, the GAC confirmed that, following Barry’s sending off against Laois in the Leinster final last Sunday for a second bookable offence, they would not be changing the penalty against him of a two-week suspension.

“Following a personal hearing, the GAC have confirmed that Alan Barry will not be available to play for Kildare in tomorrow’s Bank of Ireland football championship qualifier against Roscommon in Portlaoise. “The committee did not accept that the video evidence cleared the player of the second yellow card offence,” the GAC statement said.
