With qualifier wins over Westmeath and Carlow in their legs, Kerry hit 10 scores in the opening period with goals from Shane Brick and Michael Slattery.

Dominic McKinley's men sensing deja vu as their early June defeat to Antrim saw them shift two quick-fire goals too.

Derry relied on midfielder Oliver Collins incredibly for all but one their scores - including 14 frees from the captain.

On 58 minutes a Michael Conway ground shot bulged the Kerry net, but Kingdom full-forward Slattery who finished with 1-8, pointed in injury time to guarantee Michael Leahy's side's passage through.
