Double delight as Rebels triumph

CAPITAL of Culture, home of hurling. Europe bestowed the former, a 30th All-Ireland title at Croke Park yesterday re-affirmed the latter. At least for a couple of years.

Cork’s 1-21 to 1-16 final success over gallant Galway gave the Rebels back-to-back titles for the first time since 1978, and provided coach John Allen with a dream finale to his first season in charge.

“As a sportsman this is my proudest moment,” he admitted.
