And, holding firm in his view that Croke Park should be opened up to rugby and soccer and that both ethically and economically the games have to remain amateur, he has promised that the means of giving current players “a voice” in the running of their affairs will be addressed as a matter of urgency.

Mr. Kelly also echoed concerns about the issue of burn-out’ of players at the top level, saying that the Association was part-funding research into this whole area.
