Cork GAA officials launch probe over damaged trophy

GAA chiefs in Cork are to hold a full investigation into the circumstances in which the intermediate football championship cup was seriously damaged recently.

Nemo Rangers’ second string defeated Carbery Rangers in the final at Páirc Ui Rinn, and it is understood that the trophy was mislaid in the city amid the celebrations which followed.

The following day, the cup was handed in to the Garda Station in Bishopstown in such a poor condition that it is now, reportedly, beyond repair.
