Sin-bins may have limitations, says Mulvihill

THE consideration of operating a ‘sin-bin’ across the all levels of the GAA was raised by Director-General Liam Mulvihill yesterday.
Sin-bins may have limitations, says Mulvihill

While nothing can be decided until annual Congress in April, he wondered if it would be feasible to apply the censure to club matches.

“Operating a sin bin is the kernel of the changes that are proposed for hurling and football but I don’t know that would work at club level, where you don’t have neutral match officials,’’ he said. “And, you won’t have a neutral fourth official (who will control it). If it works out well at inter-county level, we are going to have to address whether it will apply to club level and if so, what the implications would be for the whole club scene.
