McBarron race to avoid clash of the bash
McBarron and his bride Ann- Marie Cahill had set Saturday as their big day, but never considered Fermanagh might have a championship match on the day.
Charlie Mulgrew had planned to be without his midfielder, but millionaire businessman Sean Quinn has come to the rescue.
Quinn, brother of former GAA President Peter, has given McBarron the use of his helicopter to fly to Kinawley on the Cavan/Fermanagh border straight after the game.
Quinn, a Fermanagh native, owns the Slieve Russell Hotel in Ballyconnell where the reception will be held. The wedding has been put back to 4.30pm.
“Liam’s a very civil fella, he wouldn’t want too much fuss but it is a tremendous sacrifice he is making for Fermanagh,” said PRO Tommy Curry.
“We managed to finalise the plans on Monday night when Sean Quinn arrived home from holidays. He had no hesitation in letting Liam use his helicopter.”
McBarron’s partnership with Marty McGrath has been one of the main blocks in the county’s revival under Mulgrew.
