IT MAY be the end of the road for Tipperary captain Deirdre Hughes who as good as announced her retirement from inter-county activity after yesterday’s All-Ireland final.

However she is adamant that the future for camogie in Tipperary remains bright. “It was a disappointing day for us all, we came up with high hopes,’’ she commented after the game. “We got that winning feeling over the last few years. We’re all in total shock. We know we didn’t perform.”

With reports in advance indicating that this would be her last year, Deirdre admitted that she “couldn’t see herself” coming back next year. “But, there’s a big squad - 31 on the panel - and there are a lot of young players there.
