Carter puts Cats among pigeons

KILKENNY senior hurling captain Charlie Carter yesterday cited a lack of first team hurling and a knock-on loss of appetite as his reasons for retiring from the inter-county game.

Carter, who made his announcement on Radio Kilkenny, admitted: “the way I was being used, I was beginning to feel I was only being brought on when it was felt games were gone from us.

"It’s hard to keep the hunger in those circumstances, and in this day and age, you won’t survive without hunger.”
