Thurles championship games to be televised live
The Waterford v Limerick replay on Saturday will be shown at 6.15, while the Cork v Clare showdown on Sunday will be transmitted at 4.15.
The announcement came yesterday following a meeting between fire safety officers and the stadium’s consulting engineers.
Munster Council PRO Séamus Gardiner revealed that the cameras will be situated in their original positions and that all requests from the fire safety officers are being implemented immediately.
The press corps will be accommodated in the Ryan stand.
A court order granted to the chief fire officer for Tipperary last Friday forced the cancellation of live coverage of Sunday’s Waterford-Limerick epic.
Limerick’s teenage scoring sensation Andrew O’Shaughnessy will be absent from Saturday’s semi-final replay against Waterford.
O’Shaughnessy, who hit 1-2 in the drawn match, is to concentrate on his Leaving Certificate examinations, which start today.
According to a Limerick source, the O’Shaughnessy family discussed Andrew’s position shortly after Sunday’s memorable battle and decided it was best to pass over on the replay.
He has the backing of his club, Kilmallock. “Everybody will understand his position.
“His heart and soul is with Limerick hurling but the Leaving Cert is a defining moment in his life,” said a spokesman.
Limerick manager Dave Keane said they had left the final decision to the player. It is understood that Pat Kirby, who also sits his Leaving Certificate this week, and who came on as a sub last Sunday, is available for selection.
The Limerick team will not be announced until after training on Wednesday.
