Gilligan plays down Banner’s spectacular form

NIALL Gilligan has played down Clare’s spectacular NHL form ahead of the championship.

Added to successes on the road against Kilkenny and Waterford, the Banner’s win over Tipperary in Thurles would suggest that they are coming to the boil nicely before their championship opener on June 5.

Only a stirring recovery by Ken Hogan’s men in the final quarter gave the scoreline a veneer of respectability, but Gilligan was happier with the points than the performance.
