PAUL MCGRANE, who took over the Armagh captaincy from Kieran McGeeney, will miss the McKenna Cup campaign due to a groin problem.

The 31-year-old midfielder is expected to be sidelined until the National Football League campaign. Steven McDonnell now looks set to lead the Orchardmen when they start their McKenna Cup run on Sunday against UUJ.

Also out of the opener are Aidan O’Rourke, Oisin McConville and Philip Loughran, while Ronan Clarke and Brian Mallon will turn out for St Mary’s of Ballyshannon in the competition.
