Cremin between posts as Kerry make changes for Mayo clash

KERRY open their Allianz NFL campaign against Mayo at Austin Stacks Park, Tralee tomorrow night with a new goalkeeper.

Promising Dr Crokes net-minder Kieran Cremin takes over from former Allstar Diarmuid Murphy, while there are also debuts for right corner back Padraig Reidy, wing forward Kieran Donaghy and corner forward Darren O'Sullivan. Tomas O'Se is moved from wing back to midfield.

Mayo have one midfield position vacant as Padraigh Burke is set to undergo a late fitness test for a leg injury.

Beaten finalists last year Wexford and manager Paul Bealin will be hoping to open the new campaign with victory over Laois, in Portlaoise, on Sunday.

Bealin has made five changes from the team that lost to Dublin in the O'Byrne Cup quarter-final. The experienced John Cooper is back in goal instead of Anthony Masterson, while Brendan Doyle and Diarmuid Kinsella, unavailable for the Dublin game, replace Paddy Colfer and David Shannon, respectively, at midfield.

Redmond Barry, who came on against the Dubs, is retained at left half-forward instead of Garry O'Grady, while John Hegarty, back from his honeymoon, replaces P.J. Banville at right corner.

All-Ireland champions Tyrone parade ten of the side that won the Sam Maguire Cup for their opener with Dublin at Omagh, while three others will be on the bench - concrete evidence of manager Micky Harte's determination to lift the League title.

Former minor star Raymond Mulgrew makes his League debut at wing forward, while Gerard Cavlin and Dermot Carlin, who opted out last year, are back, respectively, at centre-forward and wing back. Ciaran Gourley, who missed most of last season through injury, is at centre back with Ciaran Gormley starting at full back.

Armagh boss Joe Kernan has drafted JP Donnelly to replace his son Aaron, who is still carrying an ankle injury, as the defending champions' host Kildare - after losing out to Tyrone.

Kildare boss John Crofton gives league debuts to Adrian Kelly and Kevin O'Neill, while Padraig Brennan is back after missing most of last year due to army duty overseas. Also back is David Jordan, a regular when Mick O'Dwyer was in charge. Glen Ryan, at 35, takes over at centre-back from John Divilly who manned the position in the recent O'Byrne Cup defeat by Laois.

Donegal have five players making their NFL debuts under new manager Brian McIver for the visit of Leitrim to Ballyshannon. In are defenders Neil McGee and Stephen McHugh, while Ciaran Bonnar, Leon Thompson and Michael Doherty are named in attack.

Longford manager Luke Dempsey has given a vote of confidence to the team that won the O'Byrne Shield for their league game against London in Ruislip.

Westmeath introduce five newcomers; left corner back Gary Glennon, left half back Graham Dillon, midfielder Niall Gilmartin, and wing forwards James Nugent and Paul Bannon for their opening game against Waterford in Mullingar.

Selected full forward P. J. Ward played with New York in last season's championship.

Former Meath stalwart Liam Hayes, now manager of Carlow, has had to postpone naming a team for the trip to Ennis on Sunday, to play Clare, because of injuries to a host of his top players. Definitely out are John Hayden, Mark Carpenter, Simon Rae, Mark Brennan and John Kavanagh. Clare, who also have a number of injury problems, won't select their team either until just before the throw-in.

James Rolston and Shane Stevenson make their League debuts at centre back and right corner forward respectively for Sligo, who open their campaign with a home match at Markievicz Park against Tipperary.
