Centra have announced a new partnership with the Camogie Association which will see the retailer become the new title sponsor of the Camogie Leagues.
The Camogie Leagues celebrate their 50th anniversary in 2026 with Centra signing a four-year deal to become their sponsor which will see them “bring increased investment into the sport from elite to grassroots and boost visibility through their network of 500 stores nationwide and promotional activities.”
Speaking on the announcement, Uachtarán an Chumainn Camógaíochta, Brian Molloy admits he is looking forward to working with Centra in growing the game.
“The Camogie Association is delighted to welcome Centra as the new title sponsor of the Centra Camogie Leagues,” he said.
“Centra recognises the strength and quality of camogie and has shown a genuine passion for supporting Gaelic Games at every level.
“We look forward to working together to continue the growth and success of the game nationwide.” Rita Kirwan, Marketing Director at Musgrave, said: “Camogie is a unique Irish sport with incredibly dedicated players, passionate supporters and a deep connection to communities all over the country.
“The standard is truly elite, with speed, skill and intensity on display at every level. We’ve been proudly linked to hurling for years, but one important piece was missing - a strong, visible connection to the women’s game.
“Women’s sport in Ireland is growing, with more supporters, more participation, and more young girls stepping onto the pitch every year.
“Through our network of over 500 Centra stores across Ireland, we’re proud to help shine an even brighter spotlight on camogie and support its continued growth nationwide.
“This sponsorship reflects our commitment to increasing visibility for Camogie, growing attendances at games, and helping to inspire greater participation among young girls, ensuring a strong future for the sport.” Luke Hanlon, Managing Director of SuperValu and Centra added: “We are looking forward to working closely with the Camogie Association over the next four years to bring the Centra Camogie Leagues to life.
“We’re excited to be involved in such a dynamic sport and with our extensive footprint in communities right across Ireland, we truly believe that where there’s camogie, there’s Centra, and where there’s Centra, there’s camogie.
“By supporting a sport that plays such a vital role in communities across Ireland, we hope this partnership helps strengthen the game and inspire the next generation to get involved.”
