WATCH: Conor McGregor was awesome on Jimmy Kimmel Live

Only nine days to go to the UFC fight of the year, but Conor McGregor took some time out from training to continue building his profile in the US.

The Dublin fighter appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live on ABC last night discussing everything from his Irish childhood to owning exotic animals.

“I’d love a monkey, a cool chimpanzee whipping around,” he told Kimmel after they discussed Mike Tyson owning a tiger.

He was probably joking, but with the Notorious McGregor, you never know for sure.

McGregor appears relaxed about his superstar status, telling his host: “It’s a crazy, beautiful, out-of-body experience, beating people up for lots of money”.

He is delighted to be raising the profile of his sport.

"There are many, many young kids who are seeing the path now,” McGregor said. “They are many, many parents of young kids who are seeing my path and encouraging the game of martial arts."

The 27-year old faces the biggest test of his career on December 12, when he takes on Jose Aldo in Las Vegas.
